Paul Reach has won a by-election for the Dartmouth Clifton Ward seat on Dartmouth Town Council.
Mr Reach, of Swannaton Road, Dartmouth, saw off fellow candidates Brian Homan and Hedley Piper to secure the seat on Clifton Ward.
He picked up 465 votes, compared with 176 for Piper and 145 for Homan.
The turnout for the Dartmouth Clifton Ward seat was just 28.72 per cent, Dartmouth Town Council said.
The seat was left vacant after Sarah Jane Chick resigned from her position last month.
The voting took place at Dartmouth Guildhall on May 1.
